Our physical and mental condition affects all parts of our life.
It would be great if we all had the mind and body of a fit and healthy 25 year old but unfortunately we don’t. As we age our body and cognitive powers change. In all parts of our life the average age of people is increasing resulting in more and more older workers, patients, consumers and citizens.
The health services will be dominated by the demands of patients with physical limitations. We need our homes to adapt to our increased life expectancy – currently they don’t. When we travel and holiday we expect the services and facilities to cope with our physical and mental limitations. Businesses and public services must treat their customers as they are – not as they wished they were.
